Through guided discovery, we empower trainee teachers to become adaptive, critically diligent individuals, who are poised to make a positive impact on the children.

The D.P.S.E Institute of DAV Model School, Sector-15A, U.T. came into being in the year 1991. It was affiliated to the Education Department of U.T. Administration. After the establishment of National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) as a statutory body on August 17, 1995 it became mandatory under section 14 of the NCTE Act for all institutions, offering a course in teacher education to seek recognition from the NCTE. The Northern Regional Committee of NCTE granted recognition to DAV Model School, Sector-15 A, U.T. for D.P.S.E Course of two years duration on 25.7.2000 vide letter No.F3/CH/-12/NTT/2000/4108

 

 

The school has the distinction of being the very first DAV institution in India to get this recognition.
 

The students of the Institute have brought laurels to the DAV family by topping many times in the board exams held by the Education Department of the Chandigarh Administration.

It is centrally located in Sector 15 A, Chandigarh (U.T.) within the premises of D.A.V. Model School, sector 15 A, Chandigarh (U.T.). . It is 3 kms away from Inter State Terminus, Sector 17A, U.T. and about 8 kms from the Railway Station. Frequent bus service of Chandigarh Transport Undertaking is available from all corners of U.T. and nearby suburban areas.

 

The teacher trainees are acquainted with the basic principles of Early Childhood Care and Education keeping in view the national goals of education. Their communication skills are developed and refined for effective teaching learning process. They are acquainted with the latest in the field of technology and how to use these in their classrooms to make learning interesting and a joyful experience for the young ones. The teacher trainees are taught, the art of preparing and using various teaching aids, how to prepare lesson plans, conduct outdoor games, prepare nutritious mid day meals, art and craft, music, dance and how to organize functions and celebrate festivals in schools.

They are provided with first hand experience of classroom situations through teaching practice during which the trainees teach in various govt. and private schools of U.T..

The examining body of this course is the
Education Department of U.T. Administration. Final Exams are conducted by this body.
